The Opening Scene

If you know me, I have an undying love for movies. Theres no words to describe the sight of seeing the lights dim down inside the cinema as the title card slowly appears in front of curious eyes as we dive into a million worlds of different times, different places, different people, and different stories.

Here are my Top 3 Movies of all time!:

  1. No Country for Old Men (2007)

To be honest, I hated it so badly the first time I watched it. The story isn’t told like the way all stories have been, neither the hero and the villain get what they want; there is no pure resolution, or so I thought. After watching it again and again, I realized this simple cat-and-mouse thriller made by the legendary Coen brothers about a drug deal gone wrong is a complex and beautifully masterful film just begging for analysis. Every scene, every frame is a story waiting to be seen, the cinematography is jaw-dropping, and the acting is almost unreal, especially Javier Bardem’s intimidating Anton Chigurh. Maybe this film isn’t for everyone, but if you like watching noir, non-conventional storytelling, then this is a perfect film for you!

If the rule you followed brought you to this, of what use was the rule?

2. Inglorious Basterds (2009)

People love to see action in the big screen– it is a go-to if you want to have a good time in the cinemas. And if its action, it need to be really impressive: unforgettable characters, intense fighting scenes, a bit of dark humor, and of course, blood, lots and lots of bloody gore. And in Inglorious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino has created the perfect formula! It is just the right eye candy if you want to have a good time, hell, it’s perfect for social commentary as you watch with your friends!

Is that the way you say it? “That’s a bingo?”

3. The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

Romance can be a cheesy genre most of the time, though this film is just too wholesome to never love. Even a person who looks down on romantic films such as I adore the film– its a love story for people who hate love. Its colorful with its emotions, everything about first love, heartbreak, closure, and coming back together again. Its relatable in all aspects, making it a film just impossible to forget!

Blessed are the forgetful, for they get the better even of their blunders.
